Email notifications perhaps the simplest of them all? 🤣
When someone follows you, commented on your post etc
Along with Notification prefrences in the settings page to turn on and off.

I built a social network app a few years back, one thing to keep in mind when building notifications and email updates is to have a cron and stack notifications so you do not spam every follow/like/comment, instead send like "Username and 29 others liked your post."
