I Built an AI Document Scanning SaaS. 7 Users. $5.02 Burned. Almost No Revenue.
I've been building a product called Docufy.
The idea sounded simple:
I thought the hard part would be OCR.
I was wrong.
Today I opened my admin dashboard.
Total users: 7
Total API calls: 46
AI cost: $5.02
Revenue: $0
Profit: -$5.02
The painful part is realizing that building the product was easier than finding people who actually need it.
As developers we often believe:
They don't.
People don't wake up looking for AI document extraction /scanning software.
They wake up trying to solve a business problem.
I'm slowly learning that distribution matters more than code.
Right now I'm not giving up.
If you've built a SaaS before:
what I want to do?
Would genuinely love to hear your story. #docufy
I built OriginRound to help you sell your SaaS deals. Let your plans sail across the web and be sold anywhere outside your pricing page. You keep every penny
You can replace paid AI with any HuggingFace low model, host it locally/cloud - cutting costs and unlocking free dev mode. I guess you can do it in a few hours.
