I'm curious - I'm creating a startup business that will be hosted on AWS. Without spending a ridiculous amount of money on infrastructure at first - how have you built your businesses to scale in the cloud, and what did you use to start?

Why do you think you need AWS to host your App? Do you need compute power?

Depends on your deployment and development strategy. But, generally I would stay away from AWS unless you want to be locked into their service and pricing cycles from day 1.
